17th-century church of the old convent on Piazza Maggiore, later dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows and decorated with frescoes, canvases and marble altars.

This church was born together with the second convent of San Cipriano Picentino, built on Piazza Maggiore by 1649. Until 1680 it was home to the Capuchins; after them came the Servites, who enlarged the convent and church, decorated it with frescoes, canvases and marble altars and dedicated it to Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows, while keeping the original title of San Francesco di Paola. In 1806 the friars were removed and the church remained closed for a long time. In the 19th century the convent became a prison, while the church, badly damaged by a fire, was restored and reopened as the church of Our Lady of Sorrows (Addolorata). We recommend going inside to admire the decorations: we like how this place has managed to come back to life after so many events.
