A museum in Amalfi's Town Hall that holds the Tabula Amalphitana, the Republic's ancient maritime code.

On the first floor of the Town Hall of Amalfi, in the room dedicated to the painter Domenico Morelli, the civic museum tells the town's history through banners, memorabilia and sacred objects. Its most precious piece is the Tabula Amalphitana, the maritime law code of the Republic of Amalfi, in a 15th-century copy: it governed trade across the whole Mediterranean. It is well worth going up before strolling towards the Cathedral.
