The ruins of the fort in San Giovanni a Teduccio, linked to the defence of the Neapolitan Republic of 1799.

Vigliena Fort was built in the early 18th century on the eastern coast of Naples, to defend the port. The name comes from the viceroy, the Marquis of Villena. On 13 June 1799 the patriots of the Neapolitan Republic who were defending it blew it up rather than surrender to the troops of Cardinal Ruffo. Today only its ruins remain.
