A historic library born of the 17th-century university reform, housed since 1815 in the old Jesuit Casa del Salvatore.

The origins of the University Library go back to the reform of studies promoted by the viceroy Pedro Fernández de Castro, who governed Naples between 1610 and 1616. Since 1815 it has been housed in the old Casa del Salvatore of the Jesuit fathers, beside the church of the Gesù Vecchio. Its holdings, made up of layers differing in period and type, tell of the many reorganisations the institution has gone through. We like discovering it while strolling through the university block on Via Mezzocannone, in the heart of the historic centre.
