A family chapel on the forecourt of San Giovanni a Carbonara, founded by Cardinal Girolamo Seripando and his brother Antonio.

On the forecourt of San Giovanni a Carbonara opens the chapel of the Seripando family, also known as the chapel of the Most Holy Crucifix. It was founded by Cardinal Girolamo Seripando and his brother Antonio, who died in 1539 and whose marble tomb is the only 16th-century memorial left inside. Above the chapel was once the cardinal's famous library. For the altar, Giorgio Vasari was commissioned to paint a Christ on the Cross in 1545, now kept in the nearby church. The present appearance dates from the 19th century. The chapel is closed, but we recommend looking for it when visiting the Carbonara complex and admiring it from outside.
