A theatrical Egyptian Revival mausoleum in Posillipo, begun in the late 19th century and completed as a memorial to the fallen of the Great War.

Along Via Posillipo we are surprised by a building of unusual shapes, inspired by ancient Egypt. It was commissioned by the Livorno merchant Matteo Schilizzi, who in the 1880s entrusted the design of his mausoleum to Alfonso Guerra. In 1889, however, work came to a halt. The project was resumed only in the 1920s, after the City of Naples acquired the building to turn it into a memorial to those who fell in the First World War. It was completed by Camillo Guerra. We recommend stopping to admire its architecture, truly striking on this stretch of coast.
