A 19th-century tuff arched bridge spanning the Sanità district, built in the French period to reach Capodimonte.

In the early 19th century, during the French period, it was decided to link the Royal Palace of Capodimonte with the old Palazzo dei Regi Studi, now a museum. So the Sanità bridge was born, a structure in plastered tuff with round arches on six piers, crossing high above the whole valley of the district below. To build it, the elliptical cloister of Santa Maria della Sanità was cut through, where two piers still stand today, but in exchange a fine view opened onto the church's domes. We like looking at it from below, even though the houses that have grown up around it partly hide its bulk; in the 20th century a lift was added beside one of the piers.
