Samnite House

One of the oldest houses in Herculaneum, with its atrium surrounded by a loggia.
The Samnite House preserves the layout of a dwelling from the Samnite period, before the Roman conquest. The entrance portal is tall and austere.Its finest feature is the atrium, with a loggia on the upper floor decorated with small Ionic columns and frescoes imitating marble.
