Antiquarium of Roccagloriosa
L'antiquarium di Roccagloriosa con i reperti dell'abitato lucano del IV–III secolo a.C.
Castle · Roccagloriosa (SA)

Remains of the early medieval castle that dominated Roccagloriosa, part of a defensive chain and razed by Napoleonic troops in 1808.
Above the village lie the ruins of the castle that for centuries protected Roccagloriosa. Built between the 8th and 9th centuries, it was a strategic link in a defensive chain that also included the castles of Molpa and Policastro. Frederick II placed it among the castles whose custody fell directly to the emperor, a sign of its importance. In 1808 Napoleonic troops plundered it and razed it to the ground, leaving the remains we see today. We recommend walking up the Salita Castello: among the ancient stones you get a fine view over the surrounding area, and you immediately understand why this spot was so valuable for controlling the routes of the region.
