The theatre of ancient Neapolis, where Nero performed, hidden among the buildings of the historic centre.

The Roman theatre of Naples could hold thousands of spectators and, according to the sources, Emperor Nero sang here. Over the centuries houses were built on top of and inside the seating area. You can see its arches on Via dell'Anticaglia, and some parts can be visited from the basements of the houses on the guided tours of Naples Underground.
