A 17th-century complex founded by Elena Aldobrandini as a retreat for noble widows, now home to a textile and clothing museum.

In the mid-17th century Elena Aldobrandini, widow of Antonio Carafa, prince of Stigliano and duke of Mondragone, founded on Piazzetta Mondragone a retreat for noble widows. The women taken in soon adopted a religious rule, and the building was strengthened several times, including after the damage caused by various earthquakes. In 1915 the complex became a boarding school for orphan girls and later housed a popular school. Today it is a centre devoted to women's fashion with the adjoining Textile and Clothing Museum: we like the idea that a place created to welcome women continues to tell their story through garments and fabrics.
