The huge Bourbon building on piazza Carlo III, built to house the poor of the Kingdom.

The Real Albergo dei Poveri (Royal Poorhouse) was commissioned by Charles of Bourbon in the mid-18th century and designed by Ferdinando Fuga. It was meant to house and educate the poor of the Kingdom, and it is one of the largest 18th-century buildings in Europe, even though it was never completed. Its very long façade dominates piazza Carlo III. The building is now the subject of a major restoration project.
