Small Renaissance temple on via Tribunali built in 1490 by the humanist Giovanni Pontano in memory of his wife; Latin inscriptions on the walls.

On via Tribunali, next to the Pietrasanta, stands one of the gems of the Neapolitan Renaissance: the Pontano chapel. It was commissioned in 1490 by the humanist Giovanni Pontano, a stone's throw from his palazzo, as a funerary temple for his wife Adriana Sassone, who died that year.Completed in 1492, it has classical forms inspired by antiquity; its designer is uncertain. Let's stop to read the Latin inscriptions covering the outer and inner walls: words of affection and wisdom written by Pontano himself.
