Pizzofalcone

  • Visit: about 3 h

The Monte Echia hill, where Parthenope was born, with its belvedere over the gulf.

Pizzofalcone, the ancient Monte Echia, is the hill between Chiaia and Santa Lucia where Greek colonists founded Parthenope, the first core of Naples. In Roman times part of the villa of Lucullus stood here.Today it is a district of noble palazzi and barracks, including the Nunziatella, the historic military school. From the Monte Echia belvedere the view stretches from Castel dell'Ovo to Vesuvius.
