1513 Vomero church linked to the first miracle of Saint Januarius' blood; called "little Pompeii" for its devotion to Our Lady of Pompeii.

On via Filippo Cifariello, in the Vomero, stands a church called "piccola Pompei" (little Pompeii) because of its long devotion to Our Lady of Pompeii. It was built in 1513, but tradition has it that a small place of worship already stood here before. It is said to have been built where the first miracle of the blood of Saint Januarius took place, during the transfer of the relics from Pozzuoli to Naples: for this reason it is also called San Gennariello al Vomero. It belonged to the Cistercian monks until the 20th century.
