On the Coroglio headland, the remains of Publius Vedius Pollio's luxurious villa with a theatre, an odeon and the Grotta di Seiano.

At the top of the Coroglio headland, the Pausilypon park combines archaeology and nature. Here stood the seaside villa built in the 1st century BC by Publius Vedius Pollio, one of the most sumptuous on the coast: its Greek name evokes a respite from worries. Besides the residential rooms it included a temple and two buildings for performances, a theatre and an odeon. We recommend walking through the Grotta di Seiano, a Roman tunnel about 770 metres long dug in the time of Tiberius to link the Bagnoli plain with the Gaiola valley. The area also contains the remains of the so-called Palazzo degli Spiriti. The park has been open to the public since 2009 and visits must be booked in advance.
