Gothic chapel of 1415 on largo San Giovanni Maggiore, with a splendid marble doorway and a bell tower in tuff and piperno.

On largo San Giovanni Maggiore, next to the basilica, the Pappacoda chapel was commissioned in 1415 by Artusio Pappacoda, grand seneschal of King Ladislaus, and dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist. Its jewel is the finely carved marble Gothic doorway, one of the most beautiful in Naples; beside it rises the bell tower in bands of tuff and piperno. The interior was remodelled in 1772. Today a railing protects the little church: let's stop to admire it from the small square.
