A palazzo from 1406 near the Banchi Nuovi, one of the oldest examples of early Renaissance civic architecture in Naples.

Near Largo Banchi Nuovi, Palazzo Penne was built in 1406 by Antonio di Penne, secretary to King Ladislaus, as the inscription on the portal recalls. It blends Catalan elements, such as the depressed arch, with Tuscan ones, such as the rusticated façade, decorated with lilies and feathers, symbols of the king and of the owner. The wooden door is original. One of the most fascinating palazzi in the historic centre, awaiting restoration for years.
