Palazzo Mastelloni

  • Visit: about 50 min

A Rococo palazzo on Piazza Carità, rebuilt from 1732 by Tagliacozzi Canale; Luisa Sanfelice was arrested here.

On Piazza Carità, along Via Toledo, stands Palazzo Mastelloni, already shown on the 1566 map of Naples. In 1732, after an earthquake, the Mastellone family bought the whole building and had it rebuilt in Rococo style by Nicola Tagliacozzi Canale. The palazzo is famous because it was here, in 1799, that Luisa Sanfelice was arrested, the noblewoman involved in the Neapolitan Republic. We notice the portal and the grand staircase.
