A Neoclassical palace designed from 1812 by Leopoldo Laperuta and Antonio De Simone, closing the north side of Piazza del Plebiscito.

This palace closes the north side of Piazza del Plebiscito and was born from the great redesign of the old Largo di Palazzo to create the Foro. To achieve a symmetrical composition with Palazzo Salerno opposite, renovated in Neoclassical style, an entire block towards Via Chiaia had to be demolished. The idea was to combine the beauty of the square with housing the ministries. The project was entrusted in 1812 to Leopoldo Laperuta and Antonio De Simone. Work proceeded quickly: by the end of 1814 the ground floor was already built and the connecting street to Via Chiaia was opened, still named after Caroline Bonaparte today. We recommend viewing it from the centre of the square, to appreciate its dialogue with the surrounding buildings.
