A 16th-century palazzo on Via Chiaia, linked to the Carafa and the Princes of Francavilla; it hosted Caravaggio and Goethe.

On Via Chiaia, Palazzo Cellammare was built in the early 16th century for the abbot Giovanni Francesco Carafa; from 1531 it was renovated by Ferdinando Manlio in Renaissance style.Attacked during the Masaniello uprising and used as a lazaretto during the plague of 1656, it later became one of the city's most brilliant salons under the Princes of Francavilla. The chronicles recall that Caravaggio stayed here and, as a guest, Goethe.
