A palazzo on Largo Proprio d'Avellino that began as the medieval residence of the Gambacorta, later owned by the Caracciolo d'Avellino.

On Largo Proprio d'Avellino, in the ancient centre, stands the palazzo of the Caracciolo d'Avellino. Here, around 350, Bishop Saint Severus is said to have founded a monastery; opposite, at the end of the 14th century, the medieval residence of the Gambacorta was built.Of the original palazzo, part of the piperno base survives on Via San Giovanni in Porta. Having passed to the Caracciolo, it was transformed over the following centuries.
