One of the world's most important archaeological museums: the treasures of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the Farnese collection.

MANN occupies a large palace built at the end of the 16th century as a cavalry barracks and later home to the university, which the Bourbons turned into a museum. Finds from the Vesuvian excavations and the Farnese collection, inherited by Charles of Bourbon, were brought together here. Not to be missed are the Alexander Mosaic from the House of the Faun in Pompeii, the Farnese Hercules and Farnese Bull, the frescoes from the Vesuvian villas and the Secret Cabinet. You need at least half a day: it is best to choose the rooms you want to see beforehand.
