The Neoclassical church of the Poggioreale monumental cemetery, dedicated to the Pietà, with a portico of four great Doric columns.

In the Poggioreale monumental cemetery, the mother church dedicated to the Pietà is one of the most interesting examples of Neoclassical architecture in Naples. We recognise it by its façade with four huge Doric columns. Its construction, linked to the creation of the cemetery designed in 1812, took around forty years: begun by Francesco Maresca, it was continued from 1825 by Luigi Malesci. A place of silence and remembrance, rich in funerary art.
