Cave over sixty metres deep in the cliff above Positano, where Iron Age pottery has been found.

In the upper part of Positano, in the Liparlati area, opens the Monaco-Spera Cave, which reaches more than sixty metres into the limestone cliff. It is formed by a gallery that widens and connects to other caverns, and was used as a shelter until relatively recent times. In a recess of an inner chamber fragments of Iron Age pottery were found, including a very well-preserved pot-bellied jug, along with meal remains such as deer and pig bones, some with traces of fire. We are fascinated by this glimpse of ancient life. We have no reliable information on whether it can be visited: we recommend enquiring beforehand.
