In the Royal Palace, the museum telling the operatic and artistic history of the San Carlo through librettos, sketches, costumes and period photos.

The name MeMus combines the Italian words for memory and music, and that alone tells us a lot. Housed in the Royal Palace, the museum is a multi-purpose, multimedia centre devoted to the long operatic and artistic history of the Teatro di San Carlo, one of the cultural symbols of Naples. The route displays opera librettos, sketches for sets and costumes, manuscripts and historic photographs, alongside technological installations. We recommend visiting before or after a performance: we love discovering what lies behind the scenes of such a famous theatre.
