A small fishing village in Posillipo, famous for the Fenestella that inspired Salvatore Di Giacomo's song Marechiare.

Marechiaro is a small village overlooking the sea at Posillipo. Contrary to popular belief, its name does not refer to the clearness of the water but to its calm: a quiet, sheltered sea that has made this corner one of the most loved by Neapolitans and travellers alike. What makes it legendary is the so-called Fenestella: it is said that the poet Salvatore Di Giacomo, seeing a small window with a carnation on the sill, found the inspiration to write Marechiare, one of the most famous Neapolitan songs. We recommend looking for it as you stroll among the village's little houses, perhaps at sunset.
