A small hot cave in the Agnano volcanic crater, probably used in ancient times as a thermal bath.

The Grotta del Cane opens in the Agnano crater, an ancient volcanic crater about six and a half kilometres in circumference. A corridor around ten metres long leads to a small underground chamber of some thirty square metres, where the ceiling is thought to have had a natural opening to the sky.We are intrigued by the climate inside: the temperature reaches nearly 60 degrees. This heat, together with a step carved along the walls, suggests that in antiquity the cave served as a thermal bath. We recommend combining it with a visit to the Agnano spa area.
