A 19th-century arcade built between 1876 and 1883, with an elegant iron-and-glass roof and rich stucco on the walls.

The Galleria Principe di Napoli was created as part of the redevelopment of the area of the old grain pits. The 1869 design is by the architects Nicola Breglia and Giovanni De Novellis, and the work took place between 1876 and 1883. It is therefore one of the city's first covered arcades, a stone's throw from the Archaeological Museum. We like its light iron and glass roof, surprisingly modern for its time, which contrasts beautifully with the rich stucco decoration of the walls below. We recommend walking through it slowly, perhaps looking up to catch the play of light filtering down from above.
