The monumental cloister of the former Jesuit college, now a university building, with statues of great thinkers placed here in 1865.

In the heart of the historic centre, between Via Mezzocannone and Via Paladino, stands the old Jesuit Collegio Massimo, known as the Casa del Salvatore. The complex is arranged around two courtyards, the cloister of the Salvatore and the monumental cloister, separated by the church of the Gesù Vecchio, which is its focal point. The monumental cloister is the famous Cortile delle Statue: in 1865 statues and busts of great figures such as Thomas Aquinas, Giordano Bruno, Giambattista Vico and Giacomo Leopardi were placed here. We like walking under the square portico with its piperno pillars and looking up at the balustraded loggia adorned with marble busts that echo the statues below.
