The cloisters of the old Benedictine monastery, now home to the State Archives of Naples.

The Monastery of Santi Severino e Sossio was one of the great Benedictine complexes of Naples. Today it houses the State Archives, which keep centuries of documents from the Kingdom. The most famous of the cloisters is the Cloister of the Plane Tree, decorated with frescoes of the stories of Saint Benedict attributed to Antonio Solario, known as lo Zingaro. The name comes from a plane tree that, according to tradition, was planted by the saint.
