A 1902 church on Rua Catalana, heir to the old Pietatella, with 18th-century altars and paintings by Gustavo Girosi; currently closed.

This church was built in 1902 near the site of the old Santa Maria Incoronatella, also called Pietatella, demolished in 1898 during the Risanamento urban renewal works. The sober façade is divided by four pilasters supporting an entablature and a triangular pediment. The single-nave interior has a canvas ceiling painted in tempera with trompe-l'oeil architecture and four side altars from the time of construction. From the demolished building come the second altar on the right, from the 18th century, and the high altar of 1763 in inlaid marble. The walls display Stories of the Virgin and a Pietà painted by Gustavo Girosi in 1917-18. The church is currently closed: we recommend looking at its façade while strolling along Rua Catalana.
