Church of 1592 on via Medina linked to an orphanage and music conservatory where Scarlatti, Pergolesi and Paisiello trained.

On via Medina, the church of the Pietà dei Turchini was built between 1592 and 1595 next to an orphanage. The name comes from the blue colour, "turchino", of the robes worn by the boys taken in.The orphanage became one of the great music conservatories of Naples: Alessandro Scarlatti, Giovan Battista Pergolesi and Giovanni Paisiello trained here. In 1808 the Neapolitan conservatories were merged into a single institution, today at San Pietro a Majella.
