Capodichino church commissioned by Ferdinand II of Bourbon after the 1856 assassination attempt, linked to a prophecy by Fra Luigi di Sant'Antimo.

In piazza Giuseppe Di Vittorio, at Capodichino, stands a church with a surprising story. Local people had long asked for a place of worship nearby; the turning point came in 1856, when Fra Luigi di Sant'Antimo announced that he had heard the Virgin warn of an attempt on the king's life. The next day, at the Campo di Marte, where the airport is today, Ferdinand II was wounded by a soldier with a bayonet. Having escaped death, the king had the church built and dedicated to the Immacolata. It has been a parish since 1930.
