The first foreign national church in Naples, founded in 1518 by Thomas Palaiologos for Greek exiles; now Orthodox.

On Via San Tommaso d'Aquino, in the historic centre, stands the church of Santi Pietro e Paolo dei Greci. It was founded in 1518 by Thomas Palaiologos, a descendant of the last Byzantine dynasty, for exiles from Epirus and the Morea who worshipped according to the Greek rite.It was the city's first foreign national church, built with a contribution granted by Emperor Charles V. At the end of the 19th century it passed to the Greek State and today it is entrusted to the Orthodox Archdiocese of Italy: a place that tells of a Naples open to the Mediterranean.
