A very old church in the historic centre, documented as early as the 6th century, with a late Baroque stucco façade and an Early Christian sarcophagus.

The origins of this church are truly remote: its existence is documented as early as the 6th century. What we see today is the result of restorations layered over the centuries. We particularly like the lively, articulated stucco façade in late Baroque style, created in the first half of the 18th century among the streets of the old town. The interior has a single nave with a barrel vault, one chapel on each side and delicate stucco work. Behind the high altar we suggest looking for the precious late 6th-century sarcophagus of the matron Candida: for a long time it was believed to hold the relics of a saint, later moved to the nearby church of Sant'Angelo a Nilo.
