Sixteenth-century church on piazza Santa Maria la Nova linked to the Great Captain, Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba.

On piazza Santa Maria la Nova, next to the large Franciscan complex, stands the church of Santi Alberto e Teresa, also called Santi Giuseppe e Cristoforo. It was founded in the 16th century when Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, the Spanish "Great Captain", bought a chapel in Santa Maria la Nova and gave the confraternity a plot of land to build a new church.Later the parish of San Giuseppe Maggiore was transferred here. Altered over the centuries, it is a stop in the area between via Medina and via Monteoliveto.
