A Baroque church in Chiaia rebuilt by Cosimo Fanzago between 1650 and 1662, raised above the street.

In Chiaia, the Church of Santa Teresa was founded around 1602 by the Spanish Discalced Carmelites on a garden near the palace of the Duke of Nocera. Originally it was called «Santa Teresa alle Plaggie», because back then the sea was much closer.Between 1650 and 1662 it was rebuilt to a design by Cosimo Fanzago, then remodelled again after the 1688 earthquake. It is a fine Baroque testimony, built higher than the street: let's climb up to its bronze portal.
