A 15th-century church built by Margaret of Durazzo, opposite the bell tower of Santa Chiara; restored after the Masaniello uprising.

At the crossroads between the lower decumanus and Via San Sebastiano, opposite the bell tower of Santa Chiara, stands the small Church of Santa Marta. It was built in the early 15th century by Queen Margaret of Durazzo, in fulfilment of a vow to the saint, much venerated in Provence. The confraternity that ran it brought together viceroys and nobles, who signed the famous Codex of Santa Marta, now in the State Archives. Half destroyed by fire during the Masaniello uprising, it was restored in 1650 and enriched with works of art and a dome.
