The first church in Naples dedicated to the Virgin, founded in the 6th century and rebuilt by Cosimo Fanzago; medieval bell tower beside it.

On via Tribunali, the Pietrasanta was the first church in Naples dedicated to the Madonna. It was founded in the 6th century under Bishop Saint Pomponius, on top of a Roman building, perhaps a temple of Diana. The present church was built between 1653 and 1678 to a design by Cosimo Fanzago. Badly hit by bombing, it was restored and today is open to visitors and hosts cultural events. In front stand the Pontano chapel and the old brick bell tower, one of the oldest in the city.
