The only 14th-century building on via Medina, commissioned by Joanna I of Anjou to mark her coronation; it once held a thorn from Christ's crown.

Along via Medina, a few steps below street level, is the Incoronata: it is the only 14th-century building left in this area. It was commissioned around 1352 by Queen Joanna I of Anjou to commemorate her coronation and that of her husband Louis of Taranto. The name comes from the relic of a thorn from Christ's crown, given to the queen by the King of France and previously kept in the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. In this area, near Castel Nuovo, tournaments and jousts were once held.
