A Baroque church in Chiaia begun in 1632 for the Duchess of Gravina, inspired by Santa Maria in Campitelli in Rome.

At the end of the street of the same name, in Chiaia, the Church of Santa Maria in Portico closes the view along the road. It was begun in 1632 to a design by Nicola Longo at the wish of the Duchess of Gravina, Felice Maria Orsini, in memory of the Roman church of Santa Maria in Campitelli. The convent, with gardens, loggias and fountains, became so prestigious that it hosted the viceroy in 1683. Inside we find a single nave with three chapels on each side, dominated by the dome. The Fathers of Lucca still live in part of the complex today.
