A 16th-century Benedictine nuns' church with a magnificent coffered wooden ceiling and panels painted by Teodoro d'Errico.

The origins of the convent go back to the 14th century, but it was in 1535 that the Benedictine nuns began building the present church. After the 1930 earthquake a restoration removed the Baroque stucco and revealed the sober 16th-century architecture, with piperno pilasters on plastered walls. Above the portal a relief depicts the Virgin.Inside, with a single nave and side chapels, we suggest looking up straight away: the real jewel is the splendid coffered wooden ceiling made between 1587 and 1590 to a design by Giovan Andrea Magliulo, where carved reliefs alternate with panels painted by Teodoro d'Errico and Gerolamo Imparato. The church also holds the old wooden doors of the portal. It can be visited on request.
