A Servite church founded in 1585, turned into a stable in 1806 and reopened in 1852 as Santa Maria dell'Amore.

Overlooking the small square of the same name, the church of Santa Maria di Materdei was founded in 1585 by Father Agostino de Juliis of the Servites. In the 18th century the convent was enlarged in Baroque forms by Tagliacozzi Canale, of whose work two small portals remain. With the suppression of 1806 the church became a stable and the convent a barracks.Reopened for worship in 1852, it took on its present appearance and the title of Santa Maria dell'Amore. We recommend looking at the single nave with its barrel vault, the side chapels and the saucer dome, all in Neoclassical style, together with the Annunciation canvas by Maldarelli.
