A circular church in the Arenella (1954-1961) inspired by the old Rotonda temple, demolished in the historic centre in 1770.

In the Arenella, between Via Pietro Castellino and Via Undici Fiori del Melarancio, the Church of Santa Maria della Rotonda is striking for its unusual circular plan. The architect Ferdinando Chiaromonte took inspiration from the old Rotonda temple, which until 1770 stood between Piazza San Domenico Maggiore and Via Mezzocannone. Work lasted from 1954 to 1961; the bell tower is 40 metres high. A modern tribute to a lost monument.
