Fishermen's church of Santa Lucia, founded in 1576 and dedicated to the Madonna della Catena venerated in Palermo.

At the end of via Santa Lucia we find the church of Santa Maria della Catena, founded in 1576 by the fishmongers and sailors of the quarter. The devotion came from Sicily: tradition tells that in 1390 in Palermo the Virgin broke the chains of three innocent condemned men.The building was remodelled in the 18th century to a design by Carmelo Passero, with sober stucco decoration that also covers the dome. We like it as a memory of the old fishing quarter of Santa Lucia.
