Eighteenth-century church in the Lavinaio district built against the Aragonese walls, on vico Soprammuro.

On vico Soprammuro, in the Lavinaio district, the church of Santa Maria dell'Arco was born in the 18th century, when the area against the Aragonese walls was built up and, in 1701, the alley itself was opened. In 1718 a stretch of the wall was granted to Don Giovanni Battista Brancaccio: indeed the church makes use of the city's old walls. A small testament to how Naples grew on top of its fortifications.
