A late 19th-century Neo-Renaissance church on the Capodimonte hill, where in 1601 the Jesuits had a country retreat college.

On the green hill of Capodimonte, sources mention an ancient monastic community as far back as the time of the duchy. In 1601 the Jesuits settled here, using the college, isolated and surrounded by greenery, as a holiday retreat for the fathers who lived in the city. After their expulsion in 1767 the complex passed into private hands, returning to a religious order only in 1885.The building we see today was built from 1887 onwards in Neo-Renaissance forms. The adjoining convent houses a school and the church is no longer used for services, but can be visited on request. We recommend combining it with a walk along the Salita Capodimonte.
