Borgo dei Vergini church founded in 1326, with a façade by Giuseppe Astarita; destroyed in the war and rebuilt in the 1950s.

In the Borgo dei Vergini, just outside Porta San Gennaro, in 1326 the inhabitants built a chapel with a hospital. From it grew the church of Santa Maria dei Vergini, which later passed to the Crociferi and the Fathers of the Mission. In the 18th century Giuseppe Astarita designed the façade, with a fine play of light and shade between stucco and piperno. The bombing of the Second World War destroyed almost everything; the church was rebuilt in the 1950s following its original forms. The statue of the Immacolata remains on the façade.
