A sanctuary built where in 1446 a wall with an image of the Virgin and Child resurfaced, with a fresco by Angelo Mozzillo and an onion-domed bell tower.

In the countryside a few kilometres from Cicciano stands the sanctuary of the Madonna degli Angeli. Its story begins in 1446, when a farmer ploughing his field found a wall with a niche containing a fresco of the Virgin with the Child on her knees. We like this simple origin, so closely tied to the land. The first church was destroyed by a flood and rebuilt about three metres higher. The single nave leads to the altar with the ancient sacred image, while on the left wall is a fresco of Saint Michael the Archangel painted by Angelo Mozzillo in 1770. We recommend looking at the 17th-century bell tower, topped by a curious onion dome.
